Orange Beach Ties Veterans Memorial Expansion To America 250 Alabama Initiative
The city's new brick section near the memorial entrance is part of a broader effort to recognize military service.
Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — As the nation marks the 250th anniversary of its founding this Fourth of July, Orange Beach is honoring the milestone with a permanent tribute to its veterans. The City of Orange Beach has launched a commemorative brick program at the Orange Beach Veterans Memorial on Orange Beach Boulevard. This effort is part of the America 250 Alabama Initiative, which recognizes the country's semiquincentennial. Orange Beach has been designated an Official Alabama Semiquincentennial City.
The city announced the brick program on April 14, 2026, and held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Veterans Memorial on Monday, May 25, 2026—Memorial Day—at 9 a.m. The memorial is at 4101 Orange Beach Boulevard in the Municipal Complex. The site features a large American flag and flags for each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Work crews prepared a new section near the main entrance for the engraved bricks. The plain bricks currently in place will be replaced as the engraved bricks arrive. The new section runs along the sidewalk on Orange Beach Boulevard, allowing residents and visitors to view the tributes as they approach the memorial.
Each brick costs $200 and measures 4 inches by 8 inches. The gray bricks feature epoxy-filled black lettering. Each brick allows three lines of text, with a maximum of 14 characters per line, including spaces and punctuation. All text must be submitted in uppercase.
Once a request is submitted, approved, and paid, it can take up to three months for the brick to be installed. Requests can be submitted online or in person at Orange Beach City Hall.
City officials say the program is open to anyone who wishes to recognize a veteran's service — living or deceased — from any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. For more information or to submit a request, visit orangebeachal.gov/Veterans-Memorial or email
