Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — State 4A Champions, Ranked 4th in the nation, State's Player of the Year, and Five Players selected for the All-State Team. It seems like the accolades just keep building for the Orange Beach Makos softball team. But wait, there is one more to add.

MaxPreps, a national sports news service, has named the Makos the nation's Best Small-Town Team.

Thomas Frey of MaxPreps announced this week that the girls of the Orange Beach Mako Softball Team had been selected #1 out of the top 25 small-town teams in the nation.

Frey added in his article, "The Small-Town Top 25—determined by the MaxPreps computer ratings – includes schools with an enrollment of under 1,000 students in towns with a population of under 10,000.

Orange Beach (46-1) won its sixth consecutive state title in Alabama. Florida Rural state champion

Trenton finished No. 2, closing the season with 10 straight wins en route to its third consecutive title."

Liberty (Texas) comes in at No. 3 with a 40-6 mark. The Panthers won the Conference 4A Division 2 state championship, securing the school's first crown since 2022 and fourth overall

No other team from Alabama made the list, though the State of Texas was well represented.
