NAS Pensacola, Fla. — (OBA) —   The National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida, will host a 25th-anniversary commemoration honoring those affected by the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The event, Service and Sacrifice: Remembering 9/11, is free and open to the public. It will be held at the museum's Blue Angels Atrium. Pre-event entertainment begins at 9:00 a.m., and the ceremony officially starts at 9:30 a.m.

The event is scheduled for Friday, September 11, 2026, and will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The museum is at 1750 Radford Boulevard in Pensacola. The Pensacola Strings will perform before the ceremony begins. Attendees are encouraged to register in advance on the museum foundation's event page.

Two distinguished military veterans will share personal reflections during the program. CDR Steve Scheibner, USN (Ret.), also known as "Captain Steeeve," is a retired American Airlines captain who will speak at the ceremony. VADM John B. Totushek, USN (Ret.), a former Chief of Naval Reserve and Commander of the Naval Reserve Force, is a Pentagon survivor who will also address attendees. Their firsthand accounts are expected to lend a deeply personal dimension to the commemoration.

The Naval Aviation Alumni Choir will perform remembrance hymns throughout the program. The choir's selections are intended to honor those lost and reflect on the courage shown that day. Music has long been part of military memorial traditions, and the choir's presence adds a solemn and meaningful layer to the ceremony.

The event will conclude with a wreath-laying ceremony and the sounding of Taps. This traditional military tribute honors the lives lost on September 11, 2001. The wreath-laying is a time-honored gesture of respect used at military and civil remembrance events across the country. Together, these closing moments are intended to provide a meaningful and dignified end to the program.
