Orange Beach to Review Bear Point Stormwater Master Plan and New Micromobility Rules
City leaders will evaluate drainage solutions for Bear Point, consider electric motorcycle regulations, and advance key community agreements.
Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — Orange Beach is taking direct action to enhance coastal infrastructure as council members review the completed Bear Point Drainage Basin Study and Stormwater Master Plan. Prepared by Thompson Engineering, the comprehensive presentation outlines key strategies to optimize water management and strengthen stewardship across the drainage area.
City leaders will also address neighborhood safety through a proposed ordinance that would amend Chapter 70 of the city code. The new Article IX sets updated regulations for bicycles, micromobility devices, and electric motorcycles to ensure safer transit across residential corridors and commercial hubs.
The regular council meeting takes place this evening, Tue, Aug 18, 2026, at 5 PM in the Orange Beach City Hall Council Chambers.
In addition to infrastructure planning, city officials will hold a public hearing and conduct a first reading of a zoning amendment for the Amenity District PUD at Wharf Landing. The proposal amends Zoning Ordinance No. 172 under Case No. 0703-PUD-26 for the Margaritaville Resort development.

- Approval of a Special Events Retail Liquor License application by Wharf Restaurant Group LLC for the "Gulf State Collectors" event, scheduled for Sep 15, 2026, at the Orange Beach Event Center located at 4671 Wharf Parkway West.
- Adoption of the City of Orange Beach FY2027 Transportation Plan to leverage future transit improvements and state funding opportunities.
- Execution of a formal use agreement with the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber for the upcoming 53rd Annual National Shrimp Festival.
- Resolution amending the Employees' Pay Plan and job listings to simplify job titles within each municipal grade.
