Shrimp Festival Selects Local Artist for 52nd Annual Shrimp Festival Poster

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) — The Annual National Shrimp Festival has selected a local artist to represent its 52nd year, highlighting the festival’s strong ties to Gulf Shores. Mallorie Papadelias, a 25-year-old freelance designer from Gulf Shores, was chosen as the official poster artist. Her artwork, described as both colorful and nostalgic, reflects the spirit of the long-running event. Festival organizers said her design will promote the event and honor its history dating back to the early 1970s.

The festival is scheduled for October 9 through October 12 in Gulf Shores. Visitors will see Papadelias’ winning design featured on festival posters, merchandise, and the official T-shirt. Her work, created with acrylic paint on canvas, uses a retro-inspired theme that organizers said celebrates the festival’s 1971 beginnings.

Papadelias is a graduate of Spring Hill College in Mobile, where she earned a degree in graphic design. She now runs her own company, MADesigns, and has built a career designing logos, murals, and signage for businesses across the region. Her selection as poster artist continues the festival’s tradition of showcasing local creative talent.

In recognition of her achievement, Papadelias will receive a $1,000 cash award. She is also expected to appear at the festival for an official poster signing, though organizers said the time and location will be announced closer to the event.

Festivalgoers will have the chance to purchase posters beginning at 10 a.m. on opening day, October 9. Only 100 pre-signed, individually numbered copies will be available, making them highly sought-after collector’s items. Beyond posters, the artwork will be a key feature of Shrimp Festival merchandise sold throughout the four-day event.
