Foley to Review Orange Beach Water Plant Project

Water board seeks city approval for proposed plant

Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – The Orange Beach Water Authority is looking to build a second water treatment plant just off the Foley Beach Express and Roscoe Road. Officials from the water board are requesting a site plan approval for the new plant from the Foley Planning Commission. The water board’s other plant is on the Intracoastal Waterway just west of the site of the new bridge under construction. The site now has a water tower and is north of the Peace Lutheran Church.
The commission will meet in a joint regular/work session on Aug. 20 at 4 p.m. in council chambers at Foley City Hall.
During the meetings, the commission will also:
- Hear a request from Nelson Lyons who wants to build a home on 40 acres at the end of Pastoral Lane. This item is only for the work session.
- Consider a request for a one-year extension on Muscadine Place located north of County Road 20 and East of South Hickory Street. There are 182 lots planned on 38.24 acres on the parcel. Staff will recommend denial.
- Discuss a request from Tanger Outlets to redevelop portions of the shopping center from retail into other uses. Staff will recommend approval.
- Hear a request for a modification to the planned unit development for Live Oak Village located south of Underwood Road and west of Live Oak Boulevard. Staff will recommend approval.
- Consider a request for the East Fern Avenue subdivision for Cresswind Sandy Creek. The property is located east of the Foley Beach Express and south of Pastoral Lane on 22.81 acres. Staff recommends approval with conditions concerning placement of detention ponds.
- Hear a second request for Cresswind Sandy Creek phase on also located east of the Foley Beach Express and south of Pastoral Lane. This parcel is 136.27 acres and there are 187 lots planned in the development. Staff will recommend approval.
- Discuss a request for Keystone phase two located south of U.S. 98 and west of Venice Boulevard on 23.97 acres with 87 lots planned. Staff will recommend approval.
- Take up zoning ordinance amendments and subdivision regulation amendments. The agenda said details would be provided at the meeting.
