Orange Beach’s New Athletic Complex Ready for Grand Opening

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — Orange Beach City Schools are preparing for a historic milestone as the new athletic complex nears completion. Students, families, and community members will soon get their first look at state-of-the-art sports facilities designed to enhance both athletics and school pride. The $46.1 million project features a new football stadium and gymnasium, providing spaces for students to compete and gather. The upcoming events will be a chance for everyone to celebrate together before the complex’s official debut.

Key firsts are set for late August. The Makos football team will play its inaugural home game in the new Mako Stadium on Friday, August 22, with kick-off scheduled for 7:00 PM. Gates open at 5:00 PM, inviting fans to experience the excitement of game day in a modern venue built for community pride. Just days later, on Thursday, August 28, the volleyball team will host its first match in the newly built gymnasium, with the game starting at 4:30 PM. Doors open at 3:30 PM for supporters ready to cheer.

Both events serve as a preview of everything the complex has to offer. Tickets for these matches are available for
purchase online. School leaders encourage residents and supporters to pack the stands and fill the gym, showcasing the energy and spirit of Mako Nation before the ribbon gets cut.

The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the athletic complex will take place on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 1:00 PM. This special occasion will feature a chance to tour the new facility, highlighting the city’s investment in students and local sports. District officials describe the complex as a true milestone for Orange Beach, offering unparalleled facilities for athletes and fans alike.

From advanced stadium lighting to comfortable seating and cutting-edge training areas, the new complex was designed with both performance and safety in mind. It stands as one of the largest investments in Orange Beach City Schools history, supporting future generations of Makos and their achievements. As the countdown for opening day continues, anticipation is building for the bright future ahead.
