Reflecting on Gant's Impact and Achievements in Orange Beach

Orange Beach Fire/Rescue's Battalion Chief David Gant

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) –   After 27 years as a firefighter, Battalion Chief David Gant is retiring from the Orange Beach Fire Department. His career began with Prichard Fire/Rescue, where he served for two years before dedicating 25 years to Orange Beach.


Chief Gant played a key role in founding the Orange Beach Professional Firefighters Local 4309. He also contributed to the development of the department's drill field and training tower, enhancing firefighter training programs.


Throughout his service, Gant received several honors, including multiple unit citation awards, the Medal of Valor in 2022, and Firefighter of the Year in 2023. Notably, he is the only recipient of the Medal of Honor in the department's history.


Beyond his professional achievements, Chief Gant values his roles as a father, husband, and teammate. The Orange Beach community and his colleagues express deep gratitude for his leadership and dedication, wishing him a fulfilling retirement.
