Gulf Shores to Host Back-to-Back Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championships

Gulf Shores Continues Tradition as Collegiate Beach Volleyball Hub

Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – Gulf Shores is set to host two major collegiate beach volleyball events this spring. The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Small College Beach Volleyball Championship will take place from April 17-19, followed by the NCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship from May 2-4 at Gulf Shores Public Beach.

The AVCA tournament will feature 33 schools from across the nation, including 18 Division II, 9 Division III, and 6 NAIA institutions. Approximately 650 student-athletes are expected to compete on 20 championship courts and four practice courts. Admission to this event is free.

The NCAA Championship, relocated to Gulf Shores due to ongoing recovery efforts from the wildfires in Los Angeles County, will showcase the top 17 women's teams in the country. Tickets are available for purchase through the NCAA's official ticketing website.

Dr. Jaime Gordon, AVCA CEO, expressed enthusiasm about returning to Gulf Shores, noting the city's strong reputation in the beach volleyball community. Ashley Armstrong, chair of the NCAA Women's Beach Volleyball Committee, highlighted the familiarity of Gulf Shores for athletes and fans, emphasizing the benefits of the venue change.

Both tournaments will be held at Gulf Place, the city's main public beach, known for its white sands, emerald waters and its proximity to local amenities. These events continue Gulf Shores' tradition of hosting premier beach volleyball competitions.
