Last Mango Bar & Chill in Orange Beach

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) —  The name "Last Mango" traces back to one of Jimmy Buffett's most iconic albums, Last Mango in Paris, released in 1985. Buffett, who grew up in Mobile and spent childhood summers along the Alabama Gulf Coast, built a global brand around the coastal lifestyle those early years inspired. That brand has now planted its first flag in Orange Beach. The opening marks a milestone for a region long associated with Buffett's music and the Gulf of Mexico, which he celebrated throughout his career.

The Last Mango Bar & Chill opened in May 2026 at Marlin Circle at The Wharf in Orange Beach. It is the first completed venue in a larger Margaritaville Resort development currently under construction. The full resort is expected to open in phases, with a complete opening projected for the fourth quarter of 2027.

According to Margaritaville Hotels & Resorts, Last Mango Bar & Chill offers signature cocktails, coastal cuisine featuring fresh local seafood, and live entertainment. The venue is described as a first glimpse of the island-inspired experience the full resort will eventually offer guests.

The broader Margaritaville Resort project, backed by financier Art Favre, spans more than 80 acres along the Intracoastal Waterway. Plans call for roughly 300 units and about 650 bedrooms across condominiums, resort cottages, and waterfront villas. The resort will also feature multiple restaurants, an amenity deck, pools, waterslides, and a lazy river.

Jason Alley of TopShelf Resort Management said the development is expected to create roughly 700 jobs in the surrounding community. Alley noted that securing funding early allowed construction to proceed faster than originally anticipated, which he said benefits the area by accelerating economic development.

"It helped us move as quickly as we have, which helps the community — by getting the construction out of the way faster and bringing that economic development sooner," Alley said.

Alley said proximity to The Wharf was a key factor in selecting the site, citing the existing entertainment and dining infrastructure as a major draw for the project.

The resort marks the first Margaritaville-branded property in Alabama. The Margaritaville brand operates hotels, resorts, and restaurants across the country, all built around the coastal, carefree lifestyle Buffett promoted through his music for decades.
