Hurricane Preparedness Workshop Set For Tomorrow in Gulf Shores

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) —  The Alabama Extension Service is offering a hands-on workshop to help Gulf Coast residents prepare for hurricane season. The event is designed for homeowners and property managers seeking to better protect their property. Organizers say the workshop will focus on practical, easy-to-follow steps. Attendees will learn skills they can apply right away.

The Storm Ready hurricane preparedness workshop will take place tomorrow, Saturday, May 16th, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. It will be held at the Gulf Coast Eco Center located at 1650 Eco Trl, Gulf Shores, AL 36542
(map). Officials say the full-day schedule allows time to cover several important topics in detail.

Participants will receive instruction on preparing gardens and landscapes for severe weather. The workshop will also cover chainsaw and generator basics. Experts will explain how to reduce tree risks and select safer tree options for storm-prone areas.

In addition, the training will cover storm supply essentials. Attendees will learn to plan for food, water, and sanitation needs during emergencies. Organizers say these steps can make a major difference during extended power outages or storm damage.

The cost to attend the workshop is $10, and lunch will be provided. Interested participants can register online at the
Alabama Extension Service website. Organizers encourage early registration, as space may be limited.
