Officials will also discuss residential expansion, medical office projects, and traffic concerns on Underwood Road.
Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – A busy and growing corner in Foley is about to grow some more. Developers hope to add a gas station to the new Publix shopping center at the intersection of the Foley Beach Express and County Road 20/Miflin Road. The new store would be south of Progress, at the center's southern exit.
The request will come before the Foley Planning Commission during a joint regular/work session on Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.
A new Circle K store would be 5,200 square feet and have seven two-sided fuel dispensers. Staff will recommend approval of the new station.
During the joint regular/work session, the commission will also discuss:
- A request for a one-year extension for the Roberts Cove subdivision located south of County Road 12 and east of the Foley Beach Express. Staff will recommend approval of the extension.
- A request for a subdivision of three lots on 9.14 acres in the Foley Professional Park, located east of East Peachtree Street and east of North McKenzie Street. Staff will recommend approval with conditions, including the addition of a landscape plan and a stormwater pond maintenance agreement.
- Giving approval for a site plan for Urology Foley in the Foley Professional Park, located east of East Peachtree and east of North McKenzie Street. Staff will recommend approval with the same conditions for the park subdivision, including landscaping and stormwater concerns. The fire department has questions about fire flow requirements and sprinkler systems.
- Giving approval for Cardiology Foley again in the Foley Professional Park, with staff recommending approval based on meeting the same conditions mentioned above.
- A request for a modification of the Live Oak Village planned unit development, where developers want to put 316 lots in 148.5 acres located south of Underwood Road and west of North Cedar Street. Staff will recommend denial due to traffic concerns on Underwood Road raised by the 316 homes planned for that area. Staff said the developers need to build left- and right-turn lanes off Underwood.
