Commission to consider 10 items at the April 14th meeting

Bubba’s Site May Become a Mini Golf Course in Orange Beach

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Loop Center Properties will go before the Orange Beach Planning Commission on April 14 to request permission to combine five lots along Perdido Beach Boulevard in Orange Beach to build Orange Beach Mini Golf. The company is also seeking site plan approval for the facility.

The lots are on the north side of the road and contain both Bubba’s Restaurant building and a small house east of there used as the office for Bubba’s. The longtime restaurant announced on April 2 that it was closing permanently after operating for 27 years. See related story.

The planning commission will meet in a work session at 3 p.m. and a regular session at 4 p.m. in council chambers at city hall on April 14.

During the meeting, the commission will also discuss:

  • A rezoning request from Ron and Darlene Twilley to rezone the lot at 28226 Canal Road from general business to single-family residential. It’s the first lot east of the entrance to Bayshore towers and five houses were built on the four lots west of there in the past few years. Those four houses are owned by former Atlanta Falcon kicker Matt Bryant and his wife, according to county tax records.
  • Owners John and Leigh Ann McNutt are seeking approval to combine two lots they own north of the intersection of Canal Road and McNutt Lane.
  • The Oak Shores development on the west side of Sampson Avenue is seeking approval for a final minor subdivision of lots 23-28 in the planned subdivision.
  • A request from Paul and Carol Mazzarella to combine their lots on Armadillo by taking 25 from one and adding it to the other.
  • A request from Gregory and Penny Hood to move the lot line between two parcels located at 28595 and 28613 Lee Avenue, a dead-end street that runs off of Look Rook Road.
  • A request from Community Development asking the city council to amend the section of the zoning ordinance on parking requirements for auto repair and service centers and car washes.
  • Another request from Community Development asking the council to amend the section of the zoning ordinance regarding density calculations and wetlands, wetland setbacks and conservation easement areas.
  • A site plan review for the city on the planned recycling center the city wants to build on Russian Road near the city’s shooting range.
  • A request from Shaver Investments for approval of a site plan to build a six-unit office and retail building on Canal Road between Canal Plaza and Bayside Estates.
