Baldwin County Council On Aging Launches Cell Phone Fridays For Seniors

Robertsdale, Ala. — (OBA) — The Baldwin County Council on Aging has introduced a new weekly program to help older adults become more comfortable using their cell phones. The program, called "Cell Phone Fridays," provides free, one-on-one assistance with everyday phone tasks. It is open to seniors throughout Baldwin County and takes place every Friday at the Council on Aging's office in Robertsdale. The aim is to boost seniors' confidence in using the technology they rely on daily.

Sessions are held every Friday in two time slots. Morning sessions run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and afternoon sessions are from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The program started this month, February 2026. It takes place at the Council on Aging office located at 22251 Palmer Street, Robertsdale, AL 36567.

Staff members are available to guide seniors through a wide range of phone tasks. That includes making and receiving calls, sending text messages, and navigating apps. They can also assist with adjusting phone settings and resolving other common issues. No question is too small, and the help is tailored to each person's needs.

Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are also welcome. Seniors who wish to schedule a time in advance can call 251-972-8506. Showing up without an appointment remains an option for those who prefer it. The relaxed format aims to make seniors feel comfortable.

A Council on Aging representative spoke about why the program matters. "Staying connected to family, friends, and important services is essential," the representative said. "This program gives seniors a comfortable place to ask questions and build confidence using the technology they rely on every day." Those words reflect the heart of what Cell Phone Fridays is all about.

The Baldwin County Council on Aging has long worked to support older adults in the region. The organization emphasizes programs that foster independence, connection, and a higher quality of life. Cell Phone Fridays aligns perfectly with that mission by addressing a genuine need that many seniors face. As smartphones become increasingly central to daily life, knowing how to use them becomes more important than ever.
