Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — The Orange Beach City Council has officially recognized a new day aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs. During a recent council meeting, Mayor Tony Kennon and council members proclaimed C.A.K.E. Day for the city. The event highlights student creativity and business skills. City leaders are encouraging residents to take part.
The proclamation designates Saturday, May 9, 2026, as C.A.K.E. Day, an acronym for Coastal Alabama Kid Entrepreneurs Day. The official proclamation was signed on April 7, 2026. Coastal Alabama Business Chamber President Greg Alexander attended the meeting to accept the recognition.
C.A.K.E. Day is a free, community-wide educational event. It offers children an opportunity to learn and apply entrepreneurial thinking. Organizers say the goal is to help young people build a strong foundation for success in a global economy.
The program teaches essential business and life skills. Students learn to start and run a business, set goals, and develop a business plan. They also practice budgeting, attracting investors, and delivering customer service.
A core part of the program is its “Spend, Save, and Share” philosophy. Organizers say this approach helps students understand money management and giving back to the community. The event also promotes teamwork and problem-solving.
C.A.K.E. Day unites families, businesses, schools, and community groups. Faith-based organizations, neighborhoods, and government agencies also participate. The common goal is to help train the next generation of entrepreneurs.
City officials say the event demonstrates to young people that they are valued. The proclamation states that C.A.K.E. Day shows citizens care about the future of local youth. It also recognizes the efforts of organizers, volunteers, and participants.
Residents of Orange Beach are encouraged to participate on May 9, 2026. Community members can support students by buying or selling student-made products. More information about the event is available through the
