Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — A series of free clinics is being offered to help reduce stray cat populations in Baldwin County. The effort is organized by Safe Harbor Animal Coalition. The program focuses on unowned stray cats cared for by residents. Officials say appointments are required to participate.
The next Stray Spay Day clinics are scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, in Foley, Tuesday, April 28, in Robertsdale, and Tuesday, May 5, in Loxley. Drop-off times begin at 7:15 a.m., with pickup later the same day, depending on location.
The clinics are only for unowned stray cats that residents are currently caring for and will continue to care for. Personal pets are not eligible. Cats must be in secure carriers or covered traps, and appointments must be confirmed in advance.
Services include rabies and FVRCP vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, and a 24-hour pain injection. Ear tipping is required to identify treated cats. Organizers say space is limited, and appointments are filled on a first-come basis.
Participants must keep cats indoors overnight after surgery to allow recovery and may release them the next morning. Proof of Baldwin County residency is required, including a utility bill and photo ID.
Residents can request an appointment by emailing
fixcats@safeharborac.org and briefly explaining their situation. Organizers advise checking junk or spam folders if a response is not received within a few business days. Donations to support the program are accepted and are tax-deductible.
