Families can meet animal ambassadors at Gulf Shores Halloween event

Boo at the Zoo this coming Saturday

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) —  The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo in Gulf Shores is celebrating Halloween with its annual Boo at the Zoo event. The day includes trick-or-treating, activities, and meet-and-greets with animal ambassadors. The event is scare-free and welcoming for the whole family. All proceeds from Boo at the Zoo support the zoo's animals and programs.

Boo at the Zoo is scheduled for next Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 9 a.m. to noon. The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is at 20499 Oak Road East in Gulf Shores and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The organization is a nonprofit 501(c)(3).

You can buy tickets online in advance or at the entrance on the day of the event. General admission is $23.95 for adults ages 13 to 61. Seniors age 62 and older and military members pay $20.95, and children ages 3 to 12 pay $15.95.

Zoo members attend free of charge, and children age 2 and under also attend at no cost. Members must present their membership cards at the entrance. Visitors who are not yet members are encouraged to join before the event to receive special discounts.

Boo at the Zoo is included with regular zoo admission, so you don't need a separate event ticket. The event gives families a chance to enjoy Halloween outdoors in an animal-friendly setting along the Gulf Coast. The zoo says the experience centers on fun, connection, and community.

There are a few things visitors should know before attending:

  • Animal Encounters will be closed during the event.
  • Bring your own treat bags.
  • Wear your best costume for a chance to win a Golden Ticket, redeemable for a prize in the gift shop.

The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo has long been a fixture in Gulf Shores, drawing visitors from across the region with its educational programs and interactive animal experiences. The zoo is accredited and supports conservation efforts for animals and their habitats. Boo at the Zoo is one of several seasonal events the zoo hosts each year.
