Airport to reopen Saturday pending a post-storm safety check

Gulf Shores International Airport

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) —  Gulf Shores International Airport is temporarily suspending all operations ahead of Hurricane Isaias. The closure is part of safety preparations to protect airport staff, tenants, travelers, and the broader aviation community. Only emergency services aircraft will be permitted to operate during the shutdown. The airport is working closely with the City of Gulf Shores and Baldwin County Emergency Management throughout the storm response.

The airport will close to all operations at 12:00 p.m. CST on Friday, October 9, 2026. Officials plan to reopen the facility at 10:00 a.m. CST on Saturday, October 10, 2026. That timeline is tentative and will depend on the results of a post-storm safety assessment.

Allegiant Air is the airport's sole commercial carrier and will be directly affected by the closure. The airline will notify affected travelers of flight cancellations and any schedule adjustments resulting from the shutdown. Passengers with reservations or questions about rebooking should contact Allegiant Air directly.

Travelers can reach Allegiant Air through its website at
Allegiant.com or by calling (702) 505-8888. Customers should consult those sources for the most current flight information. The airline is expected to provide ongoing updates as the storm situation develops.

Gulf Shores International Airport will continue to post updates on its official website and social media channels. Airport officials urge the public to monitor those channels for the latest information on reopening status. The safety of all airport users and personnel remains the top priority throughout the storm.
