Elberta, Ala. — (OBA) —  The Elberta Volunteer Fire Department is bringing something new to its annual fall tradition. For the first time ever, the department is launching Blocktober Fest, a Friday night kickoff event held the night before the Elberta German Sausage Festival. The two-day celebration will take place at Elberta Town Park. Organizers are calling it two days and one great weekend.

Blocktober Fest will take place on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Elberta Town Park in downtown Elberta. The Elberta German Sausage Festival will follow the next morning, Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the same venue.

Blocktober Fest will feature a beer tent, live music, food vendors, and kids' activities. Families are encouraged to come out, grab dinner, let the kids play, and enjoy a night of live entertainment. The event aims to bring the community together before the main festival weekend begins.

The Elberta German Sausage Festival on Saturday will continue the event's longtime traditions. Attendees can expect German sausage dogs, vendors, live entertainment, and family fun. Organizers say there will be additional activities as well.

The Elberta Volunteer Fire Department has organized the Sausage Festival for years as a community fundraiser and fall celebration. This year, adding Blocktober Fest marks the first time the event has expanded to a two-day format. Both events are free and open to the public.
