Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – As the City of Gulf Shores gets ready to welcome visitors of the 'Sand In My Boots' Festival, there will be some temporary transportation changes in the area. The inconveniences are small when compared to the recognition the coast will gain from hosting such a high profile event.

City of Gulf Shores officials have provided detailed maps of these changes to help with traffic and keep pedestrians safe during the event. Road closures and one-way routes will affect several streets near the beach. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and follow posted signs.

West Beach, use Windmill Ridge Road, West 2nd Avenue to West 1st Street, or West 1st Avenue. To reach Orange Beach, drivers should use the Gulf State Park, Canal Road, or East 1st Avenue.

Thursday, May 15, West Beach Boulevard between West 2nd Street and West 3rd Street will be closed to all cars.
