Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — The Orange Beach High School girls' basketball team secured a big victory this week. They played a lengthy game against St. Michael Catholic High School to determine the area 4A champion. The Makos fought hard through three overtime periods to win. It was a high-scoring, thrilling game for all the fans in attendance.


The championship game took place yesterday, Monday, February 9th. This victory makes the Makos the 4A Area 1 Champions for the season. Following this win, the team will play again on Friday night, February 13th. The next game will be in the sub-regional round held at the Makos' home gym.


The final score of the triple overtime thriller ended with Orange Beach on top, 69-61. Both teams fought until the very end of the night. Local fans were cheering loudly as the Makos pulled away in the final minutes. The school is very proud of the players' and coaches' performance.


School officials quickly shared the news with the community. They shouted, "Makos Win! Makos Win! Makos Win!" to celebrate the big moment. The victory shows how much the team has improved this year. They are now focused on their next big challenge in the playoffs.


The coaching staff received many compliments for leading the team to success. Head Coach Mike Chase has extensive experience winning championships in Alabama. He and his assistants prepared the girls well for this tough matchup. "Congratulations, Ladies & Coaches!" was the message sent out to the entire town.


The upcoming sub-regional game is a crucial step for the Makos. It will be played at 6:00 p.m. right here in Orange Beach. The team hopes for a large crowd of local supporters at the school. Winning this game would advance them further into the state tournament.


Basketball fans in the Gulf Coast region are excited about this postseason run. The Makos have demonstrated they can handle pressure during high-stakes games. Playing at home gives them a significant advantage for the Friday night showdown. Everyone is encouraged to wear school colors and support the local student-athletes.
