Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) —  The Gulf Shores City Council is set to review a coastal management agreement. They will also discuss strategies to enhance public safety. During the upcoming meeting, high-profile recognitions for public safety will be presented. This session aims to address environmental management and community safety initiatives.

The regular meeting is this evening, Monday, Aug 10, 2026, at 4 PM in Gulf Shores City Hall's Council Chambers.

Council members will consider a resolution authorizing an agreement with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) on the Alabama Coastal Area Management Plan. The agreement supports ongoing regulatory, monitoring, and stewardship efforts along the city's coastline.

The meeting will also highlight community lifesaving efforts and staff excellence. The Gulf Shores Police Department will present Lifesaving Awards to local officers, and Gulf Shores Fire Rescue will recognize Omar Lagos as the Lifeguard of the Month for July 2026.

Additionally, the council will hold a public hearing on an Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) license application for The Salty Whisker.

During the meeting, the council will also:

• Review and approve the minutes from the July 27 Special Work Session, the July 27 Regular Council Meeting, and the August 3 Council Work Session.
• Consider approving recent municipal expense vouchers.
• Review Large Group Activities Permit applications for the Bloody Mary 5K and the 53rd Annual National Shrimp Festival.
• Hear regular committee and staff reports.
• Open the floor for public comments from individuals not listed on the formal agenda.
