Orange Beach City Schools Set to Unveil New Athletics Center
Ribbon cutting & Volleyball on Wednesday and Homecoming Game highlight a week of events

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — Orange Beach City Schools is set to open its new athletics center this week. District leaders say the $46.1 million project will serve students and the community. The facility features venues for multiple sports and training. It is designed to host tournaments and school events.
The ribbon cutting is scheduled for Wednesday at 10 a.m. inside the new gymnasium. City Council members and the Makos Academics Arts and Athletics Club announced the ceremony. Later that same day the Varsity Volleyball team will host the Area Tournament. Games are set for 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Those who miss the ribbon cutting will have another chance to visit. An open house will take place Friday from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. The Makos homecoming game against Mobile Christian will kick off at 7:00 p.m. The open house leads directly into the football festivities.

The complex includes a football field stands and a training area. Track and field options are described as state of the art. Support staff offices and fitness areas are also part of the plan. The gymnasium was built to host local tournaments and events.

Athletes have already begun walkthroughs in the new spaces. Staff members tested lighting scoreboards and sound systems. Grounds crews prepared the fields for play. The gym floor was finalized for competition.
