Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — Orange Beach residents will soon have a chance to gain an inside understanding of how their local public safety teams operate. The Orange Beach Police Department and Orange Beach Fire Department have announced that they will host the 2025 Citizen’s Public Safety Academy. This annual program opens the doors to the daily efforts of law enforcement and fire rescue, giving community members knowledge and tools to better connect with local officers and firefighters. The academy aims to strengthen relationships and foster trust between first responders and the public.

The program will run from September 8 to October 20, 2025. Classes are scheduled on Monday evenings and will take place from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. There is no cost to participate, making this a free opportunity for adults in the community. Sessions will be held at two sites: the Orange Beach Police Department headquarters at 4480 Orange Beach Blvd and Orange Beach Fire Station 3 at 23584 Canal Road.

During the sessions, participants will have the chance to learn about many areas of public safety. Topics include patrol operations, narcotics enforcement, police investigations, dispatch procedures, and officer training. There will also be segments about DUI enforcement, the Marine Division, school resource officers, and the vital role of the K9 unit. Fire and rescue demonstrations will cover vehicle extrication and medical response, among other critical emergency services.

Anyone interested must be at least 18 years old, and a background check is required for all applicants. People can pick up applications at the Orange Beach Police Department. To secure a spot, completed forms need to be submitted no later than Friday, August 22, 2025.

City officials see the academy as an excellent way for citizens to get involved, ask questions, and see first-hand the work that keeps Orange Beach safe. Organizers are encouraging all eligible residents to consider joining and take part in this special community program.
