Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Orange Beach City Schools has been awarded its third consecutive Middle School Innovation Grant, totaling $198,890.60. The grant was secured by Mary Courtney, the district’s Career and Technical Education Director, who continues to create impactful opportunities for students.

This year’s grant will fund the creation of a cutting-edge recording studio designed for graphics and video production, streaming services, and television production for middle school students. These state-of-the-art resources will serve as a bridge to the high school’s Career and Technical Pathway, equipping students with skills to:

  • Create digital content for websites, social media platforms, and electronic displays.
  • Live stream school and system-wide events.

Operate advanced digital displays, including:

  • The 24'x36' jumbo screen at Mako Stadium.
  • The four-sided, center-hung display in the new gymnasium.
  • The 20' LED scorers' table display in the new gymnasium.

“This grant represents our continued commitment to fostering innovation and ensuring our students have access to tools and training that prepare them for real-world success,” said Superintendent Randy Wilkes. “We are proud to see the lasting impact of these grants and the opportunities they create for our students to excel in their chosen fields.”

Orange Beach City Schools has a proven track record of maximizing innovation grants to enhance educational experiences. Previous grants have funded the creation of a state-of-the-art STEM lab and improvements to the Sea, Sand, and Stars Environmental Learning Center, further solidifying the district’s reputation as a leader in educational innovation.

“This year’s project will allow students to take a hands-on approach to learning while exploring dynamic career pathways in digital media and technology,” added Mary Courtney. “It’s exciting to see how these resources will shape their future and enrich their educational journey.”

Orange Beach City Schools continues demonstrating its dedication to providing students with the tools and opportunities needed for success in an ever-evolving world.
