Lion King Cast at the Performing Arts Center in Orange Beach

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — Disney’s beloved tale “The Lion King, Jr.” will take the stage in Orange Beach this October, bringing colorful characters and timeless music to life. The production will be performed at the Orange Beach Performing Arts Center and is expected to draw families and theater fans from across the community. Organizers say audiences will experience a show filled with energy, heart, and dedication from its young cast. The event will showcase months of preparation by local performers eager to deliver a memorable performance.

Shows are scheduled for October 3 through October 5 at the Performing Arts Center, located on the eastern side of the Orange Beach Middle/High School campus. The Friday and Saturday evening shows begin at 7 p.m., while the Sunday finale will be a 2 p.m. matinee. Tickets are $15 for general admission and can be purchased online by

The production is led by Expect Excellence Theater, which has assembled 45 performers, most between the ages of 10 and 15. The group has been rehearsing since mid-summer, devoting countless hours to ensure the play captures the spirit of the Disney classic. Organizers praised the dedication of the cast, noting many rehearsals were held during the students’ summer vacation.

Orange Beach Performing Arts Coordinator Stacie Brane said the story resonates with audiences because of its universal themes. “There are always struggles and very strong bonds between parents and their children as they grow up to be adults. It’s really a very heartwarming story,” Brane explained.

She added that “The Lion King, Jr.” was selected because the creative team felt it would connect with a wide audience. “The whole creative team felt that ‘Lion King, Jr.’ was really a clear favorite we all felt would attract a wide variety of people throughout the community who enjoy live theater,” Brane said.

Director Grace Stanton echoed that excitement, praising the young performers’ dedication and the visual elements of the show. “I am very confident ‘The Lion King, Jr.’ with the very popular music, the eye-catching costumes, the great sets, along with all of our talented actors will make for a very enjoyable time for audiences of all ages,” Stanton said.

The box office is open on weekdays from 3:30 to 6 p.m. and can be reached at 251-923-0043. Seating is general admission, and theater officials encourage early ticket purchases due to expected demand.
