Lee Charities Launches New Volunteer Switchboard In Baldwin County
Residents can sign up and choose opportunities that match their interests.
Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — Lee Charities has launched a new program to connect volunteers and nonprofits across Baldwin County. The effort, called the Volunteer Switchboard, is designed to make it easier for people to find ways to give back. Leaders say the program will also help local organizations stay connected with the community.
The Volunteer Switchboard serves as a central database where residents can learn about nonprofit work and available volunteer roles. It enables people of all ages to explore ways to help. The system also improves communication between volunteers and organizations, helping both sides connect more quickly.
Nonprofit groups can submit their volunteer needs through the platform, providing them with access to a wide pool of people ready to help. It also eliminates the need for groups to spend time building and managing their own volunteer lists.
Community members who want to participate can sign up via an online form. Organizers say personal information will remain secure and be used only to share volunteer opportunities. Participants can choose which opportunities to pursue based on their interests and availability.
After joining, volunteers will receive a free “Volunteer Crew” T-shirt and email updates on new ways to get involved. Organizers hope these updates will keep people engaged and active in the community.
Nonprofits can also submit requests via a separate online form. Once submitted, those opportunities are shared directly with members of the Volunteer Crew, helping organizations fill volunteer roles more quickly and efficiently.
“Lee Charities is pleased to offer this service to the community,” said Mitchell Lee, President of Lee Charities. “We know Baldwin County residents believe in giving back, and we want to make it as easy as possible for them to do so.”
“Leaders of nonprofits already have so much on their plates,” said Penny Hughey, Director of Community Development. “We hope this service helps ease the burden of finding volunteers, allowing them to focus on their mission.”
Organizers encourage residents to sign up and get involved. They say the program aims to build stronger ties across the county while supporting important causes.
