Officer recognized after handling high call volume and arrests

Officer E. Mullinax named Officer of the Month for April 2026

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) —  A Gulf Shores police officer has been recognized for her work during a busy spring season. Officer E. Mullinax was named Officer of the Month for April 2026 following what leaders described as an exceptional performance. Supervisors cited her strong work ethic and consistent professionalism. They also highlighted her ability to take initiative and support fellow officers.

The recognition follows a month of high activity in April 2026, including the end of the annual spring break period. During that time, Mullinax handled 152 calls for service. Of those, 122 were self-initiated, reflecting a proactive approach to policing. She also made 21 arrests on her own, including five felony arrests.

In addition to arrests, Mullinax conducted 100 vehicle stops and completed 17 foot patrols. She also filed 12 offense reports that month. Her supervisors noted that her efforts remained steady even as the intense spring break period began to wind down. They said she continued to focus on preventing common seasonal crimes.

Despite long hours and overtime shifts, Mullinax continued to take on additional responsibilities. Her supervisors said she worked without complaint and often stepped in to ease others' workloads. Her focus remained on keeping the community safe during one of the busiest times of the year.

On April 18, 2026, Mullinax responded to a report of a runaway juvenile. She located the missing youth in a short amount of time. Just days later, on April 24, she observed suspicious activity in a parking lot. That observation led to four people being taken into custody.

Her work throughout the month spanned a wide range of situations. These included relocating an alligator and responding to house parties and other complaints. She also led Bravo Squad, which ranked among the department’s most proactive teams. Her squad outperformed others in several key areas.

Lieutenant Marlin Hanner praised Mullinax in a statement, saying, “Officer Mullinax, your accomplishments and the professionalism with which you represent the Gulf Shores Police Department are commendable.” He added, “I am proud of your continued excellence and look forward to seeing all you will achieve this year. Keep up the outstanding work.”
