Suspect Not Affiliated with Walmart, According to Management

Jaheim Jamaal Williams, age 23, a legal Foreign National living in Gulf Shores

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — A sexual assault investigation is underway after an incident at the Walmart on South McKenzie Street in Foley. The Foley Police Department said the incident happened inside the store. Police were called about the assault at the supercenter location. The case quickly drew attention because the accused was not a Walmart employee, according to store management.

The alleged assault occurred on August 28, with officers responding at around 12:45 P.M. to the Walmart. It was determined that the suspect was being tested for job-related skills by a non-profit. This non-profit works with individuals with mental deficiencies and is not affiliated with Walmart, according to store management.

A Walmart worker, uninvolved with either party, stepped in to assist the victim. This employee acted quickly and managed to stop the assault before it could escalate further. Authorities praised the worker’s courage and immediate response, which allowed Foley Police officers to arrest the offender without delay.

The suspect in the case is identified as Jaheim Jamaal Williams, age 23. He is described as a legal foreign national living in Gulf Shores with his parents. Williams is charged with Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, classified as a Class C Felony, and Reckless Endangerment, classified as a Class A Misdemeanor.

The Foley Police Department thanked Walmart’s management and staff for their help and cooperation. Police say the investigation is ongoing, and the prompt responses from both staff and law enforcement were important in resolving the situation.
