Alabama Commits 45 Million for 23 Coastal Projects in 2025
GOMESA Awards Center on Access, Education, Water Quality and Research

Point Clear, Ala. — (OBA) — Alabama will invest more than 45 million dollars in 23 projects across Coastal Alabama. The package targets environmental education, water quality, boating and recreation. It also expands access to public lands and waterfronts. The plan points to steady improvements for residents and visitors.
The announcement came yesterday, on Tuesday, in Point Clear. The event followed the Southern States Energy Board annual meeting at the Grand Hotel, which opened Monday. The timing aligns with the state’s 2025 GOMESA planning cycle.
The funding flows from the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act. The law shares 37.5 percent of qualified revenues from federal offshore oil and gas leases with Gulf Coast states and eligible coastal local governments. The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources administers the state portion.
Mobile and Baldwin counties also receive separate federal disbursements. The projects emphasize practical fixes now and resilience over time.
