Zoning Amendment Could Limit Shared Housing in Foley

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) A change in the definition of “family” in an amendment to the zoning ordinance will come before the Foley Planning Commission in its June meeting. The change will limit the number of unrelated people in one dwelling to three. Other changes will address group homes, communal living facilities, bed and breakfast businesses and several changes in care facilities for children, the elderly and the mentally challenged.

According to the agenda, the commission will meet in a joint regular/work session on June 18 at 4 p.m. in council chambers at city hall. First, the commission will discuss the ordinance changes in a work session, then continue in a regular session immediately following to address the same items.

During the meetings, the commission will also discuss two requests for approval for lots in the Magnolia Walk Subdivision on property east of the Foley Beach Express and north of County Road 20.
