Organizers Say The Site Should Open In Late Spring 2026

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — A new recycling facility meant for hard-to-recycle items is now under construction in coastal Baldwin County. The Orange Beach CHaRM is “taking shape,” according to an announcement about the project. The center is expected to provide residents with another recycling option. It will focus on items that typically cannot go in curbside bins.

The facility is expected to open in late Spring 2026. It will be located at 22510 Russian Road, Gulf Shores, AL 36542. The CHaRM name stands for the Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials. Organizers said the site will be an added resource for the community.

The center is designed to handle everyday items that curbside programs cannot. That includes electronics, batteries, and household hazardous waste. It will also accept other hard-to-recycle materials. The goal is to make recycling simpler for more people.

By establishing a dedicated drop-off facility, the program aims to help residents recycle more and reduce waste. Supporters of the project say the added option should reduce the amount of reusable or dangerous material that ends up in the trash. The announcement described it as a way to expand local recycling choices.

Organizers also shared an upbeat message about the opening. “We can’t wait to welcome the community!” the announcement said.
