Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Two Orange Beach baseball youth all star teams will play in state tournaments starting this weekend, the 10U team in Florence and the 12U team in Andalusia.

At the district tournament in Daphne the weekend of June 10-11 the 10U team (pictured above) went undefeated in the double elimination tournament defeating neighbors from Gulf Shores to win the title. The Orange Beach 12U team (pictured at the bottom of this story) finished in the top four in its district play also in Daphne to earn a trip to that division’s state tournament. Both tournaments are the weekend of June 23-26.

“It was long and hot and very exciting,” 10U Coach Jonathan Ellsworth said. “We won six straight games. They are all excited and I gave them a few days off because they deserved it. It was a long weekend in the hot sun so they needed a few days off.”

Ellsworth said his team excelled in all phases of the game to take the title and earn the state spot.

“We did well in all aspects of the game,” Ellsworth said. “Played great defense and I don’t think we made but one error the whole time. Timely hitting, the bats came alive and everybody was hitting the ball. Pitching was just outstanding. Couldn’t ask for anything better.”

Members of the 10U team are Jon Ellsworth, Beau Bulman, Colton Ingram, Colton Price, Tuck Shaver, Cody Weidenbach, Noah Barnes, Grant Tindal, John McInnis, Ross Hulbert, Rowen Hinds and Jake Watts. They are coached by Jonathan Ellis, John McInnis, Chris Bulman and Ron Hulbert.
