Surf Rescue To Lead Training Exercise At Alabama Point On Monday
Residents and visitors should expect a visible emergency response, but no real danger is involved.
Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — Orange Beach will see a large emergency response presence on Monday morning, but officials say there is no cause for concern. The activity will be part of a planned training exercise involving city agencies. It will take place at Alabama Point near the east jetties at Perdido Pass. The drill is intended to simulate a water emergency.
Orange Beach Surf Rescue will coordinate with other city agencies during the exercise. The training is scheduled for Monday, June 8, from 8 a.m. to noon. Crews will be on land and on the water during the drill. Officials said the public should not be alarmed by the activity.
Numerous city personnel and equipment will be visible in the area during the exercise. The training is designed to help crews practice their response to a real emergency. Emergency vehicles and rescue teams are expected to be present near the waterfront. City officials emphasized that the event is only a drill.
The public notice also said that beachgoers should not be concerned by the scene. The exercise will focus on a water emergency response at Alabama Point. Emergency personnel will use the drill to test interagency coordination. Officials want residents and visitors to understand that no actual emergency is occurring.
