Six New Office Units Proposed on Canal Road in Orange Beach

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Shaver Investments is looking to build an office space on the north side of Canal Road. The development will be between Canal Plaza on the west and Bayside Side Estates mobile home neighborhood. Six units are planned in the new building. Representatives will ask the for Orange Beach Planning Commission’s favorable recommendation for a site plan.
The commission will meet May 12 at 4 p.m. in council chambers at city hall.
During the meeting, the commission will also discuss:
- A request from S.E. Civil Engineering and Surveying to subdivide a lot on Canal Road west of Melanie Martin Interiors into three lots.
- A request from Steven Carter for a favorable recommendation from the commission to the city council for a conditional use permit. Carter seeks to build two storage buildings totaling 28,600 square feet and 26 units. Conditional use permits require council approval.

Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – Foley residents will soon have more walking paths along one of the city's main roads. The City Council has approved a plan to extend sidewalks again along Hwy 59. This improvement will make the area more pedestrian-friendly. Walkways will be added to a section of the highway that currently lacks proper pedestrian infrastructure.

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – A closed-door meeting in Orange Beach with Alabama Law Enforcement Agency secretary Hal Taylor could change how laws are enforced in Coastal Alabama waters. For an hour on Wednesday, Taylor listened to complaints about the Marine Patrol division. He was presented with grievances and evidence suggesting troopers are ticketing boaters without cause and without first issuing warnings.
