Salty Shuffle Poker Run Set to Support Baldwin County Housing Efforts

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) — The Salty Shuffle Poker Run is coming to Gulf Shores, and aims to help fight homelessness in Baldwin County. The event is hosted by the Sea Glass Initiative, a nonprofit that works to provide housing solutions for local families and children. Boaters are invited to cruise the Intracoastal Waterway, stopping at waterfront venues to collect poker chips and build their best hand. All proceeds from the event will go to support the Sea Glass Initiative’s mission.

The inaugural Salty Shuffle Poker Run will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Participants can start from any point on the Intracoastal Waterway, but must finish at Legendary Marina & Yacht Club in Gulf Shores by 3:00 PM. The event is open to all boaters, and registration costs $100 per boat captain, which includes a swag bag, and $30 for each additional rider who wants to play a hand.

Boaters will visit 13 different stops, including popular spots like Tacky Jacks, Flora-Bama Yacht Club, and Pirate’s Cove, to collect poker chips. Each chip can be exchanged for a playing card at the after-party, where the best poker hand wins a $1,000 cash prize. Bonus chips are given for food or drink purchases at the stops, and extra cards can be bought for $50 before seeing your hand.

The wrap-up party at Legendary Marina & Yacht Club will feature live DJ music, food trucks, a silent auction, Plinko, a 50/50 raffle, and a Best Dressed Dad Contest to celebrate Father’s Day weekend. The contest is open to all ages and genders, and costumes are encouraged to be as funny as possible.

Organizers say the need is urgent, with more than 700 people, including over 250 children, currently experiencing homelessness in Baldwin County. Most of those affected have lived in the area for many years. The Sea Glass Initiative hopes the Salty Shuffle Poker Run will bring the community together to help neighbors in need.
