Orange Beach Marching Band

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — Orange Beach is preparing to welcome a wave of music later this month as the city hosts the Sounds of the Island Marching Band Festival. The event brings together school bands from Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, offering a mix of college-level talent and high school pride. Organizers say the showcase is expected to draw both locals and visitors looking for an afternoon filled with marching band performances. The event highlights the growing role of the city’s athletic complex as a community hub.

The festival will take place Saturday, September 27, at the newly built Orange Beach Middle and High School Athletic Complex. The opening ceremony begins at 2 p.m., setting the stage for performances that will continue throughout the afternoon. Tickets are $15, and memberships in the Makos Academics Arts and Athletics Club (MAAAC) will be accepted for entry.

This year’s lineup features a mix of well-known programs and smaller regional schools. Troy University’s Sound of the South marching band will headline the festival, joined by the Lowndes High School Bridgemen from Georgia. Other groups include A. Crawford Mosley High School from Florida, along with local high school bands from Foley, Saraland, Fairhope, and Mobile’s Faith Academy. The Orange Beach High School Makos will also take the field as hosts.

The event is presented by Cosmo’s Restaurant and supported by sponsors including Tidal Hue, Hotel Indigo, and the City of Orange Beach. Organizers point out that the festival is more than just a performance—it serves as an opportunity for students to showcase their hard work, for families to come together, and for the community to spotlight its investment in arts and athletics facilities.
