New Training Center Under Construction for Orange Beach Fire Rescue

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — The City of Orange Beach is taking a significant step forward in public safety infrastructure. A new construction project is underway behind Fire Station 1. This development marks a major upgrade for the local fire department. Officials are prioritizing advanced preparation for emergency responders.

Activity on the site began earlier this year after the city council gave the green light. The project focuses on a 10,000-square-foot training facility. It is designed to modernize how local firefighters prepare for emergencies. Crews are currently busy getting the foundation in place.

Construction efforts are proceeding rapidly in December 2025 as the crews work to complete the build. The city has partnered with McCollough Architecture for the building's design. Roy Lewis Construction has been selected to handle the physical building process. Both companies are well-known entities in the region.

The interior of the new center will feature a variety of specialized rooms. A highlight is the 2,000-square-foot training room that can be divided for smaller classes. This flexibility allows for simultaneous sessions. It ensures that different teams can learn without interrupting one another.

This facility will also serve as the new headquarters for the Surf Rescue Division. The beach environment requires unique skills regarding water safety and currents. Having a dedicated space for these operations is vital. It centralizes their command structure and equipment storage in one location.

Firefighters will have access to a new kitchen and exercise room within the building. Physical fitness is a critical component of the job. These amenities support the health and wellness of the crew. A healthy workforce is better equipped to handle the physical demands of rescue work.

The Training Division will gain new administrative offices in the complex. This administrative space allows for better organization of educational programs. Instructors will have the resources needed to plan detailed curriculums. Better planning leads to more effective drills and classroom instruction for the department.

The project has received full backing from the mayor and the city council. Their support highlights a commitment to public safety investments. They view this as a proactive measure for the community. The goal is to provide the best possible service to residents and tourists.

Orange Beach Fire Rescue is adopting a forward-thinking strategy with this center. Education is the foundation of effective emergency response. By investing in training now, the department prepares for future challenges. This approach ensures readiness for any situation that may arise on the coast.

The completion of this facility will benefit the entire Orange Beach community. Residents can feel more secure knowing their responders have top-tier training. The building represents a long-term investment in safety. It stands as a testament to the city's dedication to excellence in service.
