Lee Charities has announced the appointment of Mitchell Lee as its new president. The organization said the leadership change reflects its continued focus on strengthening nonprofit work across Baldwin County. Lee Charities works with groups that provide critical services to residents. Leaders say the appointment supports long-term community collaboration.

Lee Charities was founded in 2024 by David Lee and Mitchell Lee. The organization was created to elevate the nonprofit and social services network in Baldwin County. Its mission centers on leadership, insight, and giving. The group also emphasizes the sharing of resources among local organizations.

The organization’s vision is to help Baldwin County nonprofits thrive through collaboration and connection. Lee Charities works to bridge community resources with nonprofits meeting critical needs. These efforts support a wide range of services across the county. Leaders say cooperation remains a key priority.

Mitchell Lee is originally from Atlanta, Georgia. He earned a degree in psychology from the University of West Florida. He later completed a Master of Social Work at Arizona State University. His education prepared him for a career focused on community service.

Lee has been involved in nonprofit work since 2015. He began his career as a case manager at a 100-bed men’s homeless shelter. That experience introduced him to direct service work. It also shaped his long-term commitment to helping vulnerable populations.

He earned his State of Alabama Social Work License in 2018. The license allowed him to expand his professional responsibilities. Lee continued working across several service areas. Those areas included homelessness, education, mental health, and land conservation.

From 2018 to 2024, Lee served as executive director of the South Baldwin Literacy Council in Foley. During that time, he focused on addressing gaps within the nonprofit sector. Much of his work centered on educational services. The organization aimed to improve access and outcomes.

In addition to his professional roles, Lee serves on several community boards. He is known for supporting growth at both individual and organizational levels. Community leaders say his experience spans multiple sectors. That background brings a broad perspective to the presidency.

As president of Lee Charities, Lee will support nonprofit efforts across multiple sectors. He will also advocate for individuals and families who rely on charitable services. The organization said this role aligns with its mission. Leaders emphasized continued countywide support.

Lee said his goal is to inspire community members to give of themselves. He also hopes to encourage support for people facing difficult life circumstances. “I am honored and excited for the opportunity to further serve organizations that are doing meaningful work in Baldwin County,” Lee said.

Lee currently lives in Fairhope with his wife, Shea. The couple has three children, Mabel, Davis, and Oliver. Another child is expected later this month. Lee Charities said family and community remain central to his work.
