Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – The Gulf State Park Pier in Alabama is set to reopen after extensive repairs were completed following damage from Hurricane Sally. The pier, a popular destination for both fishermen and sightseers, has been closed since November to address the destruction caused by the hurricane, which struck in September 2020. The storm collapsed a 200-foot section of the 1,540-foot pier, necessitating significant restoration efforts.

Gulf State Park officials said that the pier will be opening on Monday, August 19th at 7am. This reopening marks the culmination of a long repair process, which followed a previous $2.4 million renovation that had been completed before the hurricane hit.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for mid-September to celebrate the reopening and the successful completion of the repairs. This event will not only commemorate the restoration of the pier but also highlight the resilience and dedication of the community and the authorities involved in bringing this beloved structure back to life.

During the pier's closure, visitors were encouraged to explore other fishing locations along Alabama's Gulf Coast. However, the reopening of the Gulf State Park Pier is expected to draw back many enthusiasts eager to enjoy the scenic views and fishing opportunities it offers.
