Gulf Shores Police Searching for Suspect After Late Night Assault

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) — Residents in Gulf Shores are being urged to stay alert after police released details of an assault that took place at a local apartment complex. Authorities said a woman was injured during the attack, which began as she walked her dog. Detectives have since identified a suspect, but officers say he remains at large. Police are asking the community to remain cautious and report any sightings.

The incident happened on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, shortly after 11 p.m. Officers with the Gulf Shores Police Department were called to the One Club apartments on Oak Road East. Investigators say the victim was outside walking her dog around the property when she was confronted by a man. He demanded that she hand over the animal.

When the woman refused, the man reportedly punched her in the face, causing injuries. Police said detectives were later able to identify the suspect as 37-year-old Brandon Demarcus Harris. He is described as 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds. His current location is unknown, but police believe he may still be in the area.

Detectives are continuing their investigation as officers search for Harris. Authorities warned residents not to approach him if spotted. Instead, police are encouraging anyone who sees him to immediately contact the Gulf Shores Police Department at 251-968-2431.

Police stressed that community awareness is important in helping locate Harris. The department reminded residents that situations like these can unfold quickly and urged everyone to use caution if they come across the suspect. Investigators are hopeful that continued tips from the public will help bring the case to a close.
