Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) — The City of Gulf Shores will celebrate Make Music Day with a community event at Meyer Park on Saturday, June 21. This free, family-friendly celebration invites everyone to enjoy live music and fun activities. Music lovers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to attend. It’s a chance to enjoy local talent, food trucks, and the longest day of the year.

Make Music Day begins at 4 p.m. and will feature performances by Group Therapy, Gulf Shores High School students, and the duo Al & Cathy. The event is scheduled to continue until 7:30 p.m. at Meyer Park, located at 400 E. 22nd Avenue.

This year’s annual celebration falls on the first full day of summer and is part of a global movement to make music accessible to all. The event will take place rain or shine. Gulf Shores Library and Recreation staff will also be onsite with games and hands-on fun.

Food trucks will offer various foods for purchase. The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber will sell beverages for guests of all ages. A unique guitar shaped like Alabama will also be on display.

The Frank Brown International Foundation for Music and the Gulf Shores High School Theatre Department are partnering with the City’s Special Events team for the show lineup.

Group Therapy opens the event from 4 to 5:20 p.m. Their bluesy three-part harmony features local vocalists Lisa Christian, Kay Sorrells, and June Hurston. They blend old favorites with originals in a soulful, storytelling style.

Gulf Shores High School students will perform from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Under Theatre Director Caleb Landrum, performers include Fiona Douglas, Luiza Espinheira, Kate Garner, and Valentina Watts.

The evening wraps up with Al & Cathy from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This acoustic duo plays classic rock and country hits from the 1960s to today. Their set includes music from The Eagles, Johnny Cash, Jim Croce, and more.
