Foley Event Train

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) —  The Foley Event Train is beginning its 2026 summer season with activities tied to America’s 250th anniversary celebration. The train will operate in Heritage Park near the Foley Railroad Museum in downtown Foley. Museum visitors can also take part in themed activities throughout the summer. Admission to the museum and train rides will remain free for guests.

The summer season begins on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. The train will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The Foley Railroad Museum is located in the city’s historic 1909 L&N Depot on East Laurel Avenue.

Passengers will board and disembark at the museum depot. The ride circles Heritage Park and lasts about 15 to 20 minutes. The train includes about four passenger cars. Each car can carry up to four passengers, depending on passenger size.

Living history interpreters dressed as Revolutionary War soldiers will appear at the Railroad Museum on Tuesday, May 26, and Thursday, May 28. They are part of the museum’s kickoff for its America 250 celebration.

The depot will also host an American Revolution-themed scavenger hunt throughout the summer. The activity will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Participants can pick up scavenger hunt materials at the Model Train Exhibit.

Visitors will search for hidden items throughout the Model Train Exhibit and the Foley Railroad Museum. The first 250 guests who complete the scavenger hunt will receive a commemorative pin themed around America 250.

The museum is also adding an America 250 Visitor Response Wall. Guests can leave messages reflecting on the nation’s 250th anniversary. The attraction is designed to allow visitors to share thoughts and memories related to the milestone celebration.

The Foley Railroad Museum will remain open Monday through Saturday during the summer season. Officials said the final admission time for all museum locations and attractions will be 2:45 p.m.

The city is also looking for volunteer drivers for the Event Train during the summer run. The attraction has become a regular part of downtown Foley activities and draws visitors to Heritage Park and the museum area each year.
