Foley Public Library to Close Temporarily for Move to New Location
Residents can still return books and access digital services during the temporary closure.
Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — The Foley Public Library is preparing to relocate to a brand-new facility this summer. The library will temporarily close to allow staff to transfer materials and set up operations at the new facility. The new location will offer residents a modern community library space. The move marks a significant milestone for the city of Foley.
The library will be closed from Monday, July 13, 2026, through Monday, August 3, 2026. During this period, staff will relocate all library materials to the new facility at 230 East Orange Avenue, Foley, AL. The current building is at 319 East Laurel Avenue.
Even while the library is closed, the book drop at the current East Laurel Avenue location will remain open. Patrons who need to return materials during the closure can use the drop at any time.
The library's catalog system will be partially unavailable during the move. Foley Public Library items will not be searchable while materials are in transit to the new building. However, patrons will still be able to search for items from other Baldwin County libraries in the catalog.
Residents who want to request items from another Baldwin County branch must select their preferred county location for pickup. That option will remain available for the duration of the closure.
Digital library services will remain fully available throughout the transition. Patrons can continue to access e-books, digital audiobooks, and other online resources without interruption.
Library officials said they look forward to welcoming the community to the new space once the move is complete. The new facility at 230 East Orange Avenue is expected to open to the public in early August 2026.
