Gulf Shores Hosts 19th Annual Brett Robinson Alabama Coastal Triathlon
Race kicks off at The Hangout on September 12, with sprint and Olympic distance options available
Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) — Gulf Shores will host the 19th annual Brett/Robinson Alabama Coastal Triathlon in September. Organized by Magic Sports USA, the event draws athletes from across the region to compete along the Alabama Gulf Coast. Racers can choose sprint and Olympic distances, as well as relay formats for two- or three-person teams. The race is open to participants 13 and older.
The triathlon is set for Saturday, September 12, 2026, with check-in and bike registration opening Friday, September 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Hangout on Gulf Place Public Beach in Gulf Shores. Saturday morning registration runs from 5:30 to 6:30 a.m., and all bikes must be in the transition area by 6:45 a.m.
The Olympic swim start is at 7 a.m., followed by the sprint swim at 7:45 a.m. Sprint awards begin at 10 a.m., and Olympic awards are presented at 11 a.m. All racers must cross the finish line by noon.
The sprint course includes a 300-meter open-water swim in the Gulf, a 12.4-mile flat bike ride, and a two-mile run. The Olympic course includes a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 24.8-mile bike ride, and a six-mile run. Both courses take advantage of the flat terrain along Beach Boulevard and the Gulf-front boardwalk.
Race organizers will host a course overview and Q&A session at 5 p.m. on Friday for first-time participants. The session will help new athletes understand the event layout and logistics. Veterans looking to fine-tune their race strategy are also welcome to attend.

The Hangout, which will host a post-race party with food, drinks, and live music. All registered participants receive a t-shirt, a swag bag, and food and drink tickets. Spectators can watch from The Hangout and enjoy vendor booths, a sign-making station, and beachside entertainment throughout the morning.
Awards will be presented across numerous categories, including age group, gender, overall, aquabike, bike-run, relay, para-triathlete, and distance. Registration for the sprint individual entry is currently $148.34, with the price set to increase to $180.14 after the first 400 spots are filled. Olympic individual registration starts at $180.14. Spots are going quickly, with fewer than 70 Olympic slots remaining as of this writing.
