Foley Police Charge Woman Following Discovery of Deceased Man
Foley Police Department continues to investigate circumstances surrounding man’s death

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — Foley police arrested a local woman after finding a man’s body in her apartment this week. On Sunday, July 28, officers responded to Alison Pointe Apartments for a welfare check around 10:50 a.m. When they entered the apartment, they discovered the deceased male. Investigators believe the man had been dead for a significant period before police arrived. The scene prompted an immediate investigation.
Officers soon identified the resident as Valerie Bonner, age 54. Police arrested Bonner and charged her with Abuse of a Corpse, which is a felony in Alabama. The charge alleges that Bonner failed to alert authorities about the man’s death and allowed his body to remain in her home. Bonner also faces a misdemeanor charge for Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Foley Police are working closely with the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office as the case develops. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene on July 28, and police thanked them for their help. At this time, investigators say they have not found any evidence of foul play related to how the man died. However, the cause of death will not be confirmed until after an autopsy, which has been scheduled.
Authorities are still trying to identify the deceased man, whose identity was not released. Police urge anyone with information to contact the Foley Police Department. The case remains under investigation while officials wait for the autopsy results and continue gathering evidence. Residents with knowledge about the situation can reach out to detectives through the department’s
tip email.
Foley Police emphasize that the charges against Bonner relate to her actions following the death, not the cause of death itself. Foley detectives have said that the investigation will continue until all questions are answered.
