Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) —  Orange Beach community members are preparing to protect their local waterways. The annual environmental tradition invites residents and visitors to work side by side outdoors. Volunteers will remove litter from shorelines, marshlands, and public access points. This community effort keeps regional shorelines healthy for native wildlife and coastal families.

The 39th Annual Alabama Coastal Cleanup will be held this Saturday, Sept. 19. Participants will collect trash from 8 a.m. to noon at several designated sites. The morning cleanup offers coastal residents a direct way to care for public waters. This event shares the weekend with the Orange Beach Freedom Fest. 

Volunteers can check in at multiple stations in Orange Beach. Check-in locations include Boggy Point Boat Launch, Cotton Bayou Public Beach, the Wind and Water Learning Center on Wolf Bay, and CoastAL beachfront restaurant.

Anyone who registers at Boggy Point Boat Launch can use boat shuttles. Shuttle operators will provide free transportation to the islands for workers who want to collect trash along isolated shorelines.

Additional cleanup sites are set up throughout the immediate Orange Beach area. Helpers can report to the Flora-Bama, Ono Island, or the Gulf State Park Beach Pavilion. Each location welcomes workers ready to help preserve the coastline.

Event organizers will provide trash bags and general site assistance at each station. Removing debris from the coast protects sea turtles, fish, and coastal birds that feed along the shore.
