Travelers gain increased access to Gulf Shores this year

Allegiant Air adds more flights to Gulf Shores International Airport

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) — Allegiant Air is quickly expanding service at Gulf Shores International Airport, now offering more nonstop options for travelers heading to Alabama’s beaches. The airline’s latest addition is a direct route to Nashville, Tennessee, with flights beginning November 21, 2025. These Nashville flights will operate twice a week on Mondays and Fridays, and tickets are already on sale for trips through February 2026.

To celebrate the new service, Allegiant is offering special introductory one-way fares as low as $49 on the new Nashville-Gulf Shores route. Other Allegiant flights from Gulf Shores have fares starting at $69.

The new Nashville service is expected to make vacation trips much faster and easier for people who would otherwise drive more than 14 hours roundtrip. Airport Director Jesse Fosnaugh called the route a “home run,” noting that about 380 people travel between Gulf Shores and Nashville every day. He said the short flight gives travelers more time at the beach and helps locals reach Nashville quickly for business or fun.

Allegiant’s expansion at Gulf Shores began in May 2025 with the launch of six nonstop routes: Knoxville, Cincinnati, Houston, Fayetteville/Bentonville, Belleville/St. Louis, and Kansas City. Soon after, the airline announced service to Appleton/Green Bay and Des Moines, starting in October 2025. The addition of the Nashville route in July 2025 brings the total to nine nonstop destinations.

Gulf Shores International also recently welcomed a new food and beverage location, Lucy Buffet’s LuLu’s, inside the terminal. Additional enhancements are being planned as passenger numbers rise. In addition to commercial flights, the airport supports general aviation, military operations, and medical transport, supporting the region’s economic growth.

The airport is located just three miles from the area’s white-sand beaches, making it an ideal gateway for tourists and residents. Allegiant’s latest schedule, low fares, and added amenities are expected to boost tourism and give travelers more choices than ever before.
