Officers with the Foley Police Department responded to Baldwin Health ER at 5:15 a.m. Friday. They found a 44-year-old woman who had already died. The initial investigation pointed to a possible drug overdose.
Hatcher, 47, had driven his girlfriend to the hospital just after 5 a.m. that morning. He told authorities he woke up to find Ivy Jade McWilliams unresponsive in bed. He rushed her to Baldwin Health, but she could not be saved.

Hatcher, who also goes by "Chip," was handcuffed and taken into custody shortly after the search. He faces a Class D felony charge for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Police have not said whether additional charges may be filed.
The Foley Police Department emphasized that the death investigation remains active. Detectives are working alongside the Baldwin County Coroner's Office to determine the exact cause of McWilliams' death. Authorities have not released toxicology results or other details about the case.
