Foley Brings Back the Lights on Water Towers
LED lights will show off city logos using less power

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — Foley’s skyline will soon get a new glow as the city moves forward with a plan to light up two of its water towers. The project will restore lighting to display the city’s name and logo. These lights were once a part of the towers but were removed during repainting. The updated lighting system will use energy-saving LED technology.

The Foley City Council has approved the “Light Up the Tanks” project. Work will be done in partnership with Riviera Utilities. The project will add lights to two standing water tanks. A third tank near Underwood Road and Baldwin County 24 will not be included.
Mayor Ralph Hellmich said the third tank is not as visible because it sits closer to the ground. It does not have legs like the other two towers, making it less noticeable from the road.
The updated lights will use less electricity than the original system. “The old lights used a lot of electricity,” Hellmich said. “We want to go back with LED lights that will once again light up our new logos on the tank.”
Eight LED lights will be installed along the handrails of the two towers. The project also includes new wiring and conduit needed to support the lighting system.
